# Start signing in

> Begins a device sign-in.

Show the person `verification_uri_complete` and have them open it in a browser, where they sign in or register and approve the code. Then poll `/device/token`.

- **Authentication:** None.
- **MCP tool:** None. Signing in is on the REST API only.

## Body parameters

Send a JSON object. Names are `snake_case`, as in responses; the `camelCase` spelling is accepted too.
