# List artifact spaces

> The spaces in your Artifacts sidebar: the General space, open spaces you joined, your teams' spaces and Members-only spaces you are in.

<div class="g1t-endpoint"><span class="g1t-method" data-method="get">GET</span><code>/workspaces/{workspace}/artifact-spaces</code></div>

Each with its id, slug, name, kind (workspace for an open space, team or private), your role in it (viewer_role) and how many artifacts it holds you can open.

Open spaces show once you join them in Artifacts; General always shows. Give a space's `slug` or `id` as `space` to the other artifact calls.

- **Authentication:** Required. Send an [access token](/reference/api/#authentication) as `Authorization: Bearer`.
- **MCP tool:** [`artifact`](/reference/mcp/#artifact) with `action` `spaces`, and the same inputs
- **Scope:** An access token needs [`artifacts:read`](/guides/authentication/#scopes).

## Path parameters

| Name | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `workspace` | string | Yes | The workspace's slug, e.g. "acme". |

## Example request

```sh
curl https://api.g1t.sh/workspaces/acme/artifact-spaces \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $G1T_TOKEN"
```

## Example response

A successful request answers `200` with:

```json
    "slug": "general",
    "name": "General",
    "icon": null,
    "kind": "workspace",
    "is_default": true,
    "joined": true,
    "viewer_role": "edit",
    "artifact_count": 14
  },
  {
    "slug": "design",
    "name": "Design",
    "description": "The design team's specs.",
    "icon": "🎨",
    "is_default": false,
    "joined": true,
    "viewer_role": "view",
    "artifact_count": 6
  }
]
```

## Errors

A failed request answers with one of these statuses and a body like `{"error": {"code": "not_found", "message": "Repository not found."}}`. See [errors](/reference/api/#errors).

| Status | Code | When |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 401 | `unauthenticated` | A token is required, or the one sent is not valid. |
| 403 | `forbidden` | The token is valid but not allowed to do this, such as a member-only change or an agent token outside its repository. |
| 404 | `not_found` | It does not exist, or you cannot see it. |
| 422 | `invalid` | The input is not valid. `message` says which field and why. |
